No. I am not a chef, I am simply a lover of good food with quite a few years of eating experience behind me. When it comes to food I long for the old days when food preparation was so much simpler. Believe it or not, there was a time when the first step in any meal preparation was not running off to 'Woolies'. Our food has changed, nothing is as what it used to be.

Let me use good old fashioned red skin Vienna sausages as an example. As a teenager I found it difficult to pass by the refrigerator without trying out one of these delicious snacks. Then everything went all pear-shaped. Some clever person figured out that these sausages were bad for us and that was the last we saw of them. A replacement sausage did arrive on the scene but these had a skin which tasted like rubber and a meaty filling that to me tastes like doggie pooh. Oh where have the good old days gone?

Today there is a saying that if anything tastes good it is most probably bad for your health. We cannot eat too much red meat anymore, we cannot leave the fat on our pork chops. We cannot eat too much sugar, we have to cut down on our egg consumption... the list just goes on and on. If just half these guys who came up with all these ideas were correct, I should have been dead about 20 years ago.

So just what is this website all about? Simply put, it is a way for me to get all those dusty recipes out of various files in a drawer and let them see the light of day again. All the photos on the different recipes are my own and they are of the actual dish described in the relevant recipe.

I hope you will manage to find something of interest on the site. On my Facebook Page I share a few more recipes than those posted on this site. You would be welcome to visit this page.

Thanks for stopping by and happy eating!
