Tasty Casserole

Meat Dishes,Tasty Casserole

This is yet another of those recipes that I have made so often but still I do not know the actual origin of the recipe. All I know is that this dish is delicious. This recipe works equally well with beef or mutton. You can use any cut of your choice. The dish can be served with anything you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef or mutton (cut into little blocks)
  • 2 tablespoons bisto
  • 2 tablespoons cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder (I use Hot English mustard)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne powder (red pepper)

Method

Add all the ingredients to a plastic bag and shake well. Add the meat to an oven dish and slice a medium onion over it. You now mix 2 tablespoons tomato paste, 2 tablespoons vinegar and 1 cup water. Pour this mixture over the meat and bake at 180C for 2½ to 3 hours.

Happy eating!

@MaryMoh – Thanks. Bisto is a British gravy powder. You can click here for more details
