Photo of the blog owner Bobotie is a popular South African dish. It is a spicy mince dish with a slight curry flavour. This dish has its origins in Indonesia. The name is often mis-pronounced as babootie and hence the name of this site. Read more about Ba-Bootie.

Monday – a beef casserole that used the same crust as used in the vegetable pie recipe that has already been posted to the blog.

Tuesdaypork chops, fries and a salad. The pork chops were prepared using the recipe already posted to this site.

Meat Dishes,Boerewors

Wednesday – ‘pap’, ‘boerewors’ with tomato and onion sauce. The non-South African readers will not know what I have just mentioned here but the full explanation and the relevant recipes will be published to the blog soon. This is one worth waiting for. NOTE: Recipes published 7 July 2010.

Vegatable Dishes,Umgqusho onembhotyi

Thursday – ‘Umgqusho onembhotyi’. Huh? This is actually samp and beans. This was served with a stew. I also tried my hand at making iced tea. The relevant recipes will follow shortly. This will be the first Xhosa recipe to be posted to the blog, hopefully it will not be the last. NOTE: The stew referred to here was actually a casserole and the recipe was posted on 11 July 2010. The samp and beans recipe was published on 14 July 2010.

Take-Aways

Friday – Fridays are take-away days around here. This time it was KFC (the kid’s favourite).

Fish Dishes, Fish Pie,Asparagus Pie

Saturday – this was double-pie day. We had a fish pie served with rice and an asparagus pie. The fish pie recipe has been posted to this site already, the asparagus pie will follow soon.

Meat Dishes,Chicken Marinade,Bread Pudding

Sunday – Chicken, rice and vegetables. We had a bread and butter pudding along with the meal. The chicken was marinated in a very special marinade. I have already published the recipe for a chicken marinade but the one used here was different. The recipes for the new marinade and the pudding will follow soon.

Well, there you have it. You now have had a little peek at what goes on in my kitchen and you also know which recipes will be posted to the blog in the next few weeks.
